It had to happen one day ! iSailor users will be disappointed… in May 2018, Transas was acquired by the Finnish group Wärtsilä Corporation, a global leader in smart technologies and solutions for the marine and energy markets. As part of the integration into the Wärtsilä brand, Transas iSailor undergoes a relooking process that you will notice during the next release. Transas iSailor becomes Wärtsilä iSailor.
In this latest version, a new annual subscription for charting service is implemented. This means that all newly purchased chart folders through the Chart Store will include a free correction service available to you for one year. The end-date of subscription will be displayed for your correction service under the folder name. As previously, Whenever a chart update is available, a star notification and an update button will be displayed in the Chart Store.
Your subscription will be automatically renewed at the original purchase price, unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the subscription period. You can cancel your subscription in the Chart Store at any time.
All previously purchased chart folders remain available and can be restored from the service through the Chart Restore function. To receive the following updates to your previously purchased charts, you'll need to subscribe to the annual updates in the Chart Store.

iTunes will charge payment after confirming the purchase of the subscription for updates. You can manage your subscriptions and turn off auto-renewal through your user account settings. I had bought 2 France zones in September and October. They are now marked with the little red star that Jean-Denis is talking about with an end date backdated to March 2018. There is no question of making Renew whatever the price !
Wartila is doubly dishonest :
Sold an app and maps in September without any prior information about the change of ownership, of brands, or commercial conditions.
Apply retroactive changes and unilaterally remove the update year to which any purchase of electronic cards from any supplier automatically entitles you (at the very least).
Claiming on his facebook site that this change is 'EU lawful'’ shows that they are not very clear, but above all that they despise their customers.

I have the folio « Torres Straits to Sydney » but is hesitant to renew updates.
Perhaps look at another system.
Have been using a WiFi connection to AIS Class A which has worked OK before.
(I have not updated to Wartsila) Found it was not showing AIS targets earlier this year and paid Australian $ 38.99 on the 25 Oct-18 for « Unlock AIS options ».
It is still not working!! Have contacted iSailor three!! times……no reply.
Will give it a go with the « wartsila » email address. If I don’t hear from them then,
…..give it up and search for a replacement system?!

Oh no, I have 8 NW Europe folios. I had chosen isailor over other options because even though the individual folios were expensive, I liked the layout and that all future updates included. I feel cheated because I thought I’d made an investment that would last for years. What’s worse is that it says « correction service until: 11/03/2018 » I actually bought some of my folios AFTER this date!
I just noticed that the situation is worse than I thought. I no longer hesitate to put Wärtsilä in the dishonest category (That's my opinion). Indeed, The new app features update stars, with button off, even if you have the latest version. This is called a Dark Pattern: A user interface designed to deceive the user into taking an action against their interest (here pay for the upgrade subscription when we don't need it yet).

Two cases:
– Cards previously purchased (even last week) are no longer updated for free. To receive updates, You have to pay an upgrade subscription. At the end of this subscription, It is automatically renewed at the same price (unless the publisher unilaterally changes the price). If you cancel this subscription, You can continue to use the *latest updated version* with the cancellation.
– Newly purchased cards are actually never purchased but rented. At the end of the subscription period, if you cancel the subscription, *you no longer have access to it*, even in non-updated versions.
Obviously, This point is deliberately left in the dark by the publisher. But if it wasn't, They would not write that the possibility of using the cards after termination concerns cards purchased before the change of model.
That is. I expressed my anger on their Facebook page, and by putting a single-star review on the App Store. Do the same.

To make sure you understood correctly, Cards purchased before the app update and those purchased after the update will be permanently acquired. Only updates to the (news?) cards will be paid on an annual subscription basis. Correct ? Merci.
Oui, the cards formerly acquired are kept, even without an update. They can even be restored to another device. Future cards too.
